WTCGHR is one of five Wellcome Trust Centres for Global Health Research, and seeks to attract and develop the most talented scientists at all stages of their research careers . Our goal, together with our national & international partners is to develop the next generation of top class research fellows, supporting them to achieve their own research objectives & career goals.

Our Centre actively supports candidates when developing a research proposal, offering crucial academic guidance and professional assistance to build a competitive proposal.


UK & EU Candidates


Our Centre offers a highly successful Wellcome Trust Clinical PhD Programme, for those seeking a clinical research training fellowship at doctoral level. For more details on our programme, click here.

The Centre also actively supports candidates who wish to pursue additional fellowship options available from The Wellcome Trust:

  • Clinical Research Career Development Fellowships -  A brand new long term (up to 8 years), opportunity for those approaching the completion of a higher degree, for example a PhD, and wish to develop independent research careers - further details
  • Senior Fellowships -  Five year fellowships offering exceptional individuals the opportunity to establish an independent research programme in a Low to Middle Income Country - further details

We also assist in developing proposals for Fellowships geared specifically to candidates based in Low - Middle Income Countries (L-MIC), under The Wellcome Trust's Public Health & Tropical Medicine portfolio area:
