University of Liverpool – Institute of Infection & Global Health (IGH)

IGH is an international centre of excellence which integrates basic science and medical and veterinary research to enhance exchange of knowledge and skills between the disciplines, thereby putting us at the forefront of the ‘One Health’ agenda. We examine clinical, biological and epidemiological aspects of infectious diseases in both a UK and a global context, and consider their wider impact on human society and animal welfare.

Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM)

LSTM is at the forefront of research into the extent, causes and impact of Neglected Tropical Diseases; Malaria; TB and respiratory diseases; Maternal and Newborn Health and Applied Health. It is supported by a research order book of over £210 million. Its global reputation and the calibre of research outputs has secured funding to lead 12 international consortia and product development partnerships aimed at reducing or eliminating the impact of diseases upon the world's poorest people. LSTM’s teaching programme attracts students from over 65 countries.

Wellcome Trust Centre for Molecular Parasitology (WTCMP)
WTCMP is a research Centre aiming to make a large impact on parasitic diseases by gaining understanding of basic processes in parasites and exploiting them to develop new approaches to disease control. Our research activities are divided into basic research of parasite biology and associated translational activities, such as disease intervention and molecular epidemiology.

Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Clinical Research Programme (MLW)

MLW conducts biomedical research on high burden health problems and, through high quality training, strives to strengthen the research capacity of doctors and scientists, developing the research leaders of the future. We are affiliated to the University of Malawi: College of Medicine (COM), the only medical school in Malawi. We are located in Blantyre, Malawi on the premises of the national Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) with a number of other field sites around the country.

National Institute of Mental Health & Neurosciences (NIMHANS)

NIMHANS is a multidisciplinary Institute for patient care and academic pursuit in the frontier area of mental health and neurosciences. A multidisciplinary integrated approach is the mainstay of this Institute, paving the way to translate results from bench to bedside. NIMHANS has been accorded the status of “Institute of National Importance” by an Act of the Parliament of India in September 2012. The faculty and students of this Institute are actively involved in basic and applied clinical research in the field of mental health and neurosciences.
